New object visibility tools in AutoCAD 2011 let you control the display of objects independent of layer visibility. Easily access these tools from the right-click menu with or without objects selected. You can use the Isolate Objects tool to select the objects you want to remain visible in the drawing. All the other objects are hidden.
Alternatively, when you use the Hide Objects tool, the selected objects are hidden.
A lightbulb icon at the right end of the status bar indicates if the current drawing contains hidden objects. It also provides easy access to the object visibility tools. After completing your task, simply end the object isolation to restore hidden objects.
The new object isolate and hide tools are particularly useful with 3D modeling. I’ve come to rely on them to the point where I wonder how I worked all of these years without them!
